Mountain weather can be very unpredictable, so the trick is to always be prepared. Dress in layers so that you can add or subtract for comfort. In winter, just use heavier layers. And, although the east side of the Cascades is drier than the west, it can get windy. Always be prepared for both wind and precipitation. A lightweight wind and water-resistant outer layer is ideal clothing to bring, regardless of the season.

Located just minutes from the Horse Park, Suncadia offers the ultimate all-season luxury mountain resort experience with a perfect combination of outdoor recreation and luxurious accommodations and amenities. From championship golf, fly fishing and miles of spectacular hiking and cycling trails to spa treatments, shopping, and fine dining, Suncadia is a place for friends and family to relax and reconnect.

Just a mile from the Park entrance are the Quality Inn and Stewart Lodge, both large and accommodating full-service hotels. Cle Elum has almost a dozen other hotels/motels, plus several different lodging choices at nearby Suncadia resort, and a large network of hotels and motels 30 minutes away in Ellensburg. You may also want to consider vacation rentals, such as All Season Vacation Rentals or River N Trails Cabin.

Cle Elum / Roslyn

Upper Kittitas County is the gateway to a vast wilderness area. Few other areas offer the abundance of recreational opportunities available here. Located at the foot of the Cascade Mountains with access to thousands of acres of mountain forest and high country lakes and streams, the area is a summer paradise for backpackers, campers and fishermen. In the winter, the hills and mountains draw cross-country skiers, snowmobilers and showshoers to find their own paths or follow the many groomed trails in the Wenatchee National Forest and across state and private lands.

In the towns, museums retell the colorful local history. Cle Elum, Roslyn and South Cle Elum all have parks available for public use, and the Coal Mines Trail runs from near Cle Elum's Flag Pole Park, to Roslyn, and on to Ronald.
